"I have raised legitimate (i.e. probitive and not prejudicial) quesitons about who this guy is and I have raised legitimate questions about the method he uses."

But you haven't refuted his [alleged] facts.

Yes but I have substantially undermined his act of allegation.

I don't think the general public gives a damn about any of this.

[snip]

maybe the reason the Dems can't give this up is that they are obsessed with Bush and MUST smear and denigrate him, even against their own best interests.

Right, and they are obsessed with proving that 'Kerry is not Bush'. Everything has to be different.

More and more, that seems to be their obsession. It certainly isn't a strategy or a plan.

This whole dam* thing bringing up Bush's service is just a BS diversion to throw off the issue in the media about KERRY's activities in Viet Nam and after when he was in the VVAW, imho. Bush's polling has gone UP while Kerry's has gone down. The 'RATS have TALKED about BUSH smearing Kerry. A bunch of BS talk that by doing so, THEY ARE SMEARING Bush on his record. They ACCUSE BUSH of lying, then they lie about Bush. Man, I hate this cra* !! I especially hate that they and the media get away with it.

Kerry made a STUPID statement about the gun someone gave him and not being able to take it/use it during the debates (har! har! He can't shoot Bush in the debates). The media? They chuckled it off and didn't make a big deal of it. Had it been BUSH saying something stupid like that, it would be on the front page of the New York Slimes daily for weeks.

G-R-R-R-R !!

"Before we produce any kind of substantial work, we must have a method by which we produce that. Thus, the method is the first thing that the skeptic should investigate."

Well said, jaycost, and your analysis is first-class.

The convoluted rot in question is also evaluated by the consideration of premises, the defining of terms, the evaluation of the witness, and the real importance of any asserted findings; and you have done first-class work here.

Steve, I'm reasonably well-versed in military paperwork and I have to admit I'm not exactly sure what facts he presented. It was a rambling sort of discourse and quite frankly I could swear he must have been drunk whilst writing it.

He seems to quote regulations and memos from the era as he sees fit and only when they fit his preconceived notions of Bush's non-compliance with regulations.

Frankly if there's a solid argument in there somewhere I've yet to identify it. I guess I'll leave it to the real Chair-borne Rangers to sort out. I know we have a lot of those around these parts.

I know people get tired of the "liberal media" discussion...they hear it so much.

But you are right on.

The issue in this campaign -- heck, the OPPONENT in this campaign -- is the MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

I would donate money to a 527 designed to place ads proving the duplicity of the MSM.

1. Geroge W. Bush was required to obtain a certain number of "points" to fulfill his guard duty. He failed to do this.

2. George W. Bush was required to regularly attend drills to fulfill his guard duty. He also failed to do this.

Well, when this POS can produce the document proving that the future president failed to meet the required number of points, wake me up. Also, when these P'sOS can produce the attendance lists from each and every drill Mr. Bush could have/should have attended, wake me up further!

Also, please wake me a third time when any of these pukes provide any sort of context for Bush's supposed slacking off in 1972-73, such as his aircraft (the F-102) being phased out, the USAF and ANG literally begging pilots to resign their commissions due to a glut during the draw-down of personnel in Vietnam, Bush not taking a "required" medical exam since he had already served four years and had no plans or obligation to remain in the ANG, etc.

Me, too. Perhaps that should be something we could look into right after the election... an interesting thought... and along the lines of the originally-intentioned "issue" 527 groups.

Dan Bartlett was just on Fox News. It was a good rejoinder. He spoke about Bush getting discharged and the circumstances that surrounded it. Much better than his weak quotation in the Globe today.
