The NY times and hitlery are both on record as being against the electoral college. This could be a backdoor way of eliminating the electoral college - if this ahole makes this stick there could emerge a "tradition" whereby the electors split their vote along popular vote lines. That would have profound implications. Anytime you start playing with the constitution (either the written constitution or the common understanding of how things are supposed to work) you open up a huge Pandora's box.

It wouldn't be the first time that a state elector went "renegade" and failed to vote for the party's nominee. In 2000, this would have been a disaster. This year, I don't think it's going to be that close.
