Space Capsule with Solar Material Crashes in Utah
Wed Sep 8, 2004 12:08 PM ETPASADENA, Calif. (Reuters) - A space capsule returning solar particles to earth has crashed in the Utah desert before it could be captured in a mid-air recovery by a Hollywood stunt helicopter pilot, officials at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory said on Wednesday.
This is also the 30th anniversary of another failed attempt. 30 years ago today Evel Knievel tried and failed to jump the Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls, Idaho. Both looked good going up but the landing was a bit rough.
