Does that destroy the samples in the capsule?

Certainly not. The samples (equivalent to about 7 grains of salt) will be in great shape right up until the time they smash into the earth at terminal velocity.

Its just a matter of finding them now.

(sorry, sarcasm is coming too easily to me today)
