If you want to bookmark his articles discussed at FR: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/k-orsonscottcard/browse

His own political website: http://www.ornery.org/index.html  is heavily populated by American- and other Leftists who are delightfully annoyed by Mr. Card's conservatism. He does not post on that site and its moderated by somebody else. He is a registered Democrat upset with hijacking of his party by the Left.

His literary, non-political website: http://www.hatrack.com

His fresh articles appear in the Rhinoceros Times, Greensboro, NC: http://www.rhinotimes.com/greensboro/  (before being posted permanently on his The Ornery American website http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/index.html ). He has 2 columns in the RhinoTimes: one on political/international events, and the second one: reviews on movies, books, and anything he wants (!). Archive of his reviews is here: http://www.hatrack.com/osc/reviews/everything/   I check his and  Michael Medved's  reviews and found myself reliably relying on them.

Bumping the common sense and logic of one the best "thinkers" in journalism, Orson Scott Card.

That is quite possibly the best political article I have read in years. I think it is the best because it is complete COMMON sense and thus rings true quite easily.

If only that could have been a speech at the convention :(

OSC can expect the same treatment from his party mates that they gave to Zell any day now...

A rational dem amongst us! This guy used to write for Compute! magazines in the '0's I believe and also wrote a sci-fi novel, Ender's Game. I haven't heard of him since the '0's and might have the wrong guy, but this is a great article anyway to show us that an honest dem (Ihear 11 of them exist) can make sense.

U R correct; Scott is the Ender's Game author.

He woke up against the far-left Dems during the

attempted theft of the 2000 election.

I'm still not sure why these Dems want to keep their Dem labels....

Yes, its one of his favorite subjects lately: insanity of one side and loss of the civil debate. (It is one my favorite themes also, but he expresses it so much better).

I'm stuck at about 5 that I know, including Ron Silver, Zell Meller, and Ed Koch.

Orson 'gets it' - reasonable men can disagree. In fact, intelligent discourse produces the best possible decisions. I think that the Dems have some good ideas, as do the Republicans. In fact, I think that Kerry and Edwards have some excellent talking points - jobs and trade among them - but they are so bereft of integrity and polically beholden to the far left wackos in their party, that the points are just empty words.

Regardless of how anyone feels about Bush, I think most would agree that he does what he says he's planning to do. Lower Taxes? Check. Invade Iraq? Check. Loosen immigration restrictions? Check. And so forth. The medal fiasco that Kerry went through, although trivial in the grand scheme of things, was indicative of the decisiveness of the man. He threw the medals over the fence. Or maybe it was ribbons. Or maybe it was someone else's medals. Or he might not have done it at all. Take a story and stick to it. Floating in the wind is not 'nuanced', just wishy-washy.

IMHO, Edwards ran a clean campaign until he got picked up by Kerry. Now he's slinging the mud, too. Unfortunate for the Dem ticket. For awhile, I was concerned by Edwards VP nomination. He was the only candidate that 'got it' when it came to talking about jobs and the economy (I didn't believe him, but I think that there were plenty of Americans that would have....).

If Kerry ever gets on track with talking about domestic issues, and dumps this entire line about being in Vietnam, he could have a slim chance. However, I'd say that time is past and he's blown it.

From time to time, I’ll post or ping on noteworthy articles about politics, foreign and military affairs. Let me know if you want off my list.

Enjoy a vanishing species before it's too late, conservative democrats!

I wonder if, when he wrote Ender's Game, he ever expected to be posting to the 'nets as Valentine and Peter did.
