The people in the State Dept. don't seem to have a problem defending US actions in Iraq and other places, even at times when they seem to be like IDF actions, so I don't see how they could not be made to stop condemning IDF actions.

No, they don't. I'm presuming a Republican administration doesn't endorse a blatent double standard, though I admit I've nothing to base it on.
