He slept at the switch because it was unpopular to wage war among his Dem political base. Therefore a military response against AQ would have cost him popularity and tarnished his legacy in the minds of his liberal supporters. So once again, Clinton put himself ahead of all else, including his country and the security of the American people. For this grave mistake in judgement, he should be forever regarded as a traitor to America.

Clinton wasn't asleep at the switch. He didn't care about the looming danger to this country. Any shrink worth his/her diploma would tell you Clinton is a sociopath who lacks normal feelings of empathy toward others. He's extremely clever, as many sociopaths are, and hides this flaw most of the time. Occasional failures: see Ron Brown's funeral pics, Juanita Broderick's rape and aftermath. Clinton is a narcissist, too. He sees the world through a prism of self interest, as if he's wearing blinders. He suffered a huge p.r. failure with Somalia and thereafter was loathe to use the military for anything but dropping a few bombs or shooting missiles at desert tents. So he was extremely reluctant to do anything meaningful, like seizing bin Laden and putting a stop to Al Qaeda. As a result Americans were murdered by the thousands.

He had the colossal gall to tell assembled Rwandans, at the end of his presidency, while Air Force One, engines still running, sat on the tarmac, that he'd never been told genocide had been taking place in their country. Bald-faced lies, the bible that got bigger every time he showed up in church...in the midst of impeachment hearings. The list is endless. Suffice it to say that constant fawning by the MSM
over Clinton is sickening. The truth is we're very lucky we survived 8 years of Clinton in the WH.

You can't? That is just too easy, he never made any decision that would have a negative affect on his poll numbers PERIOD

To be fair, I don't recall either Gore or Dubya making terrorism or Iraq a major concern during the campaign. Nor do I recall a demand from Republicans that we take out Saddam in retaliation for his attempt to murder Bush in 1993.

That being said, Clinton's demonstrated weakness in Somalia had significant negative repercussions for us, and contrasts sharply with Dubya's determination since 9/11.

It would have meant that his foreign policy was failing, and to respond in a meaningful sense would have taken money--goodbye 'balanced' budget. It also would have meant that he could not solely blame the VRWC extremists for Oklahoma City, but would have had to find the missing 'John Does'.

Instead, blame for that bombing was used to muzzle domestic political opponents, especially ones who back the RKBA.

The reaction to Waco was also silenced, by and large, by the onus of the bombing, as much of the objection to the slaughter there was from the right.

Admitting the possibility of ongoing terrorist attack instead of a couple of crackpots would have placed the entire Clintoon 'feelgood' image in peril, and it would have forced America to rethink having a genuine draft-dodger counterculture type as POTUS.
