Think of The Maltese Falcon where 'Bogie grabs Joel Cairo(the effeminate wuss played by Peter Lorre) by the collar and cuffs him. Lorre bleats, “I told you nevvver to touch meeee!” and 'Bogie says 'sumpin like, “I'll slap 'ya and you'll take it!”
It makes for great film-noir!
That pretty well descibes how Gergen looked after Laura Ingraham got thru with him. She slapped him down til he looked like a dog being washed.
Which reminds me: Every time Gergen says Zell Miller should just go ahead and declare he's a Republican, somebody should say to Gergen, "Well, why don't YOU just go ahead and declare you're a Demcocrat?!"
