Liberal reporters (about ninety percent of all reporters) simply cannot conceive that guns might reduce crime and not increase the likelihood of it. Because they consider all guns inherently evil. They came to that conclusion early on in their lives without any logic or factual data affecting that conclusion as a matter of their liberal creed. Like all liberal tenets, they are utterly unable to consider that maybe these tenets are incorrect.

It sure sounds logical doesn't it? Guns are used for killing, so if we eliminate this source of killing, then less crime and death right? Wrong actually like most of the other liberal tenets. Like making people dependent on government aid will make them independent. Or being nice to criminals will make them not be criminals. The problem with liberals is that they never suspect that they can be wrong on anything. Another huge problem for them (and us) is that they never learn from their mistakes.

Even an unused or unloaded gun can prevent a crime. Guns, unlike other defenses (scissors, mace, karate, bats, fists, feet, etc.) don't need to be used to be effective.

Interesting stuff
The media loves to water stuff down. Unless it's a negative thing that happens to someone and will make them $$ on a story

Some comic I heard a few weeks ago said:

"If you believe the slogan that 'guns kill people', then you won't mind if I start blaming my spelling errors on my pencil."

Imprimis is an excellent collection od speeches by extremely timely and usually conservative persons. Hillsdale is one of the finest colleges in the US.

I highly reccomend any FReepers who have children approaching college age that they give Hillsdale a look-see.

The thought of an armed house has deterred many crimes..

The media doesn't give a damn.

Also, the pro-gun side needs some studies beyond Lott. He's good, but has been a big discredited with the Rosh thing.

I've pulled a gun twice in my life. Didn't need to shoot either time.

The first time, it was a bit of a stand-off. There were 8 guys who wanted my camera. I had 6 bullets. They decided they didn't want the camera that bad...

The second time, I had pulled a drunk friend out of a bar. A bunch of guys interested in a fight (that my drunk friend was trying to start) followed. A second friend pulled a 30-30 out of the truck and pointed out we were leaving already. The guys decided to return to their drinking.

No shots. No police reports. Had a high potential to get very ugly both times. I always figured, it is better to have a gun you don't need than need a gun you don't have.

Khurkris,

Hillsdale is on my wife and I's short list for our kids. I read Imprimis each month. I also take them in and leave them in the break room at work for others to read, (I work in a union office).

Don't elect Hanoi john or we will have to just lay down and die because he will send his GESTAPO to collect our guns. Mine will be taken from my cold dead hand. I'm not stealing Charlton Heston's statement, I'm using it in his honor because an America without the Second Amendment that guards the rest of our Rights and Freedoms; will not be America. God Bless America and the Founding Fathers that put in writing the Rights and Freedoms that God gave us.

I'm not the least bit suprised by the reporter NOT saying anything about armed students, since that might have actually presented gun ownership and CCW in a favorable light.

I made the mistake of allowing myself to be interviewed by KC TV reporter Bev Chapman back during the fight over the Brady Bill, and the way that they cut my words out of context was really dispicable. When I objected and demanded that they correct their reporting, I was told that I had said those words, and that was all there was to it. I have never trusted anything I've seen in the MSM since then.

The Kansas City Star printed a particularly telling interview with Jack Stokes, media relations manager at the Associated Press, who "dismissed accusations that news groups deliberately downplayed the role gun owners may have played in stopping" the shooting. But Stokes "did acknowledge being 'shocked' upon learning that students carrying guns had helped subdue the gunman. 'I thought, my God, they're putting into jeopardy even more people by bringing out these guns.'"

Words fail me.

They must think that a gun automatically makes the person holding it, into a foaming idiot?

Either that or a bloodthirsty killer.

Apparently, though, an irrational fear of guns makes the person holding it into a foaming idiot.
