Oh really? It did not sound like it when I heard the presentation last night. For several reasons. First he had nothing but high praise for Rumsfeld's conduct of the war and efforts to transform the Pentagon. Seconde, given his ennunciation of international strategy it would make no sense, whatsover, since, it is the strategy the Bush is following and Kerry would more or less abandon.

Well, this link might help a bit. I saw him on C-Span's Booknotes, and found him superficial, and he is definitely a liberal. As he admitted, he just had a talent at presentation, and was entertaining, which is fine. But don't mistake that for arresting perspicacity.

It really isn't very original to observe that much of the Muslim world (oil notwithstanding in some of it) and Africa is dysfunctional, and simply not plugging into the world economy in a productive and constructive way. Although deemphasized by Barnett as I recall, much of Latin America is still a very mixed bag, and frankly a disappointment.

"Oh really?"

Oh, really! Barnett is a Democrat, and that's a fact! That's why he tosses words like "globalization" around so much while he's working in a job that he shouldn't be in.

Barnett preaches leftism/Buchananism (same thing) every time he utters or writes words like that so frequently (every few words!).

Thanks for posting a great article Andy. -- And torie, thanks for your comical reply.

As to Kerry abandoning our current military strategy, - don't bet on it. -- If elected Kerry will flip his 'opposition' position in a minute. The republocratic regime in charge in DC is commited to the 'Global Cop' tactics as outlined by Barnett.

Kerry/Bush, it makes no real difference; we will play out the hand as dealt.
