We have got to be prepared to:
* knock out enemy satellites,
* protect our own satellites
* have sufficient redundancy in case we lose one or more satellites.
You forgot one: Attack.
Folks, we have more than a 20 year lead on this sort of thing.

An Iranian satellite's life span the moment hostilities begin, I would estimate, is about 1.25 seconds.

we perfected a satellite killer 20 years ago for near-Earth (500 miles or less) satellites ...
and then we "retired" it ... (or did we I wonder?)
it was small enough to carry on any medium fighter, including those on carriers ...
