Matthews' Guests: America Must Suffer To elect Kerry
NBC | 9/05/04

Posted on 09/05/2004 7:56:38 AM PDT by Williams

The four to one liberal panel on Chris Mathews' show just agreed that the economy must fail and Americans need to die in Iraq to elect John Kerry. That horrible Katty woman from England said Kerry was doing well when there was a mess in Iraq. She said there's still a mess in Iraq, but it's not Americans who are dying, so Kerry isn't doing as well.

Sam Donaldson is sure the economy is tanking and he believes this economic disaster is what will boost Kerry. Maureen Dowd rounded out the four liberals.

Paul Gigot was the lone conservative and he rather meekly tried to explain to them that the economy is not bad enough to elect Kerry. One striking feature was they acted as though Kerry is in the lead. In their liberal minds the U.S. and World are in shambles, so of course Bush will be defeated. Fortunately, at the moment their comments are totally out of sync with polls and events.

Even Paul Gigot was saying it would take a meltdown in Iraq or maybe another terrorist attack to defeat Bush.

As is always the case, the program's energies were devoted to how Kerry can win, why Kerry should win, what Kerry is doing wrong. My favorite fantasy is Donaldson and Katty saying Kerry has to "strike back" and can't play by "Marques De Queensbury (sp)" rules while "the other guy is hitting you below the belt." Whereas Kerry and his coterie have been attacking all along.

I'm still waiting for any show devoted to discussing what George Bush must do in order to make sure he is reelected.

If they did do one, I'm sure the conclusions would be that he should (a) dump Cheney; (b) apologize for the war on Iraq; (c) legalize all stem cell research; (d) tax the rich; (e) embrace gay marriage; etc.

...meltdown in Iraq or maybe another terrorist attack to defeat Bush.

The last thing the stupid lib dims need is for there to be another major terrorist attack. That would almost certainly cement Dubya's re-election!

It's called "the smell of death."

It's in the air, on every talk show this morning.

Smells sweet, to me.

4 libs and 1 conservative...totally fair and balanced, I must say...and cows fly over fields of purple grass. I tuned in for about 2 minutes and I couldn't stand it. Poor Mr. Gigot was outnumbered but he hung in there from what I saw.

How soon the libs forget the true meaning of the classic Barro 'misery index'.

Inflation is under control and unemployment is about as low as it can be expected to go (6% is considered "full employment IIRC).

The talk about the economy is gross exaggerations on their part.

As far as Iraq is concerned, I think it is going pretty well all things considered.

4 libs and 1 conservative.. That's the left-wings idea of Fair and Balanced.

They'll cry and bitch about Foxnews if that 4:1 ratio isn't maintained.

Very good analysis. Matthews and his echoes are unwatchable. They spew DC salon talk and nothing else.

More like treasonous! I honestly believe another terrorist attack would strengthen Bush and weaken the libs. People are already on record saying they trust Bush more to handle external (as well as internal) threats.

Obviously, I'm praying against another attack...but the dim libs seem unable to grasp the old saying: Be careful what you ask/wish for.
