Well, the AP fiasco is getting some press. But I still see the original lie going out making it out there.

Do not let this die people.

Several Web sites revealed that AP "retracted" the report "citing uncertainties about how to characterize the crowd's reaction."

Well, here's a link to the audio so you can judge for yourself. My conclusion: the AP deliberately misstated a clear fact and is now trying to spin some excuse.

The media continues to trip and embarrass themselves trying to make Bush and his supporters out to be hate filled war mongers. They need to wake up to the fact that close to half the public still believe that they slant the news in an effort to support socialist candidates.

"The Associated Press changed 'boos' to 'ooohhs'"
"AP soon changed its story"
"AP 'retracted' the report 'citing uncertainties about how to characterize the crowd's reaction.'
"The new version...described the same incident this way..."
"A Knight Ridder/Tribune (KRT) report put it this way:"
Apoligists would dismiss this as Rashomon effect.

In fact, it is something quite different.

Notice that both these news outlets and John Kerry are tormented by similar, endless contortions, convolutions, confusion, uncertainty, retractions, re-clarifications, re-re-clarifications...

It results from the same thing.

Their re-re-clarifiers would claim that it results from sophisticated nuance.

In fact it is the opposite. It is highly unsophisticated confusion.

These people are bogged down in a quagmire of decadence. They cannot see any way out of it.

They are the decadent Romans of the failed and falling Empire.

George Bush is an Athenian of the Age of Pericles. That's where sophistication is to be found.

Drudge is still carrying the original AP story with some kind of garbled addendum and then a link to the full transcript saying that the 'local press' reported applause. The link is to the official White House transcript with the word 'applause' written in the appropriate places. This is hardly a retraction and it hardly tells the story of the AP blatent lie.

I was there -- right in the thick of it, right in front of the podium, right in the center of the auditorium, and I could hear anything the President could hear.

If there were any boos, he couldn't hear them because I couldn't hear them.

What actually happened is that there was a fraction of a moment of stunned silence and then polite clapping because that is what the president asked us to do. The President held that audience of 15,000 partisans in the palm of his hand. We would do anything he asked yesterday.

I wrote Drudge late last night and their page was changed immediately. However, no further corrections have been made to the story. The AP should be exposed for the lying b-ds that they are! Everyone should lip a note to Drudge until a full retraction is posted. And a note to the AP isn't a bad idea eaither.

Booos to oooohs. My, lord -- how lame!

Does anyone know how to get this lie exposed on the fox show where all the reporters discuss the media? Can't remember the name at the moment -- it's on Saturdays and Sundays. You know -- the show with Jane Hall and Jim Pinkerton? And Eric somebody (host) and Neal somebody (the weasly little liberal)?

I've just phoned the hays reporter and left a message. The email link doesn't seem to work. Obeservations of another poster seem accurate -- the voice mail (for several reporters) sounds like one of these 'girly-men'.

the voice mail gives you teh option of paging them to.

It's spreading, still. This is in the online Boston Herald.

Clinton will undergo heart bypass surgery
By Andrew Miga
Saturday, September 4, 2004
NEW YORK - Former President Bill Clinton faces coronary bypass surgery as soon as today ...
[paragraphs snipped] ... Both Sen. John F. Kerry and President Bush [related, bio] publicly wished Clinton a quick recovery as they launched their fall campaigns. Some in the crowd reportedly booed when Bush offered kind words at a West Allis, Wis., stop.
``He is in our thoughts and prayers,'' said Bush, who The Associated Press said did nothing to stop the booing. ``We send him our best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery.''

Several Web sites revealed that AP "retracted" the report "citing uncertainties about how to characterize the crowd's reaction."

The local newspaper (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, an AP client which hosts the local AP offices in its building) went with APPLAUSE:

En route here we just received news that President Clinton has been hospitalized in New York. He is in our thoughts and prayers. We send him our best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery. (Applause.)

Is it just me? I seem to have some vague recollection of some other story, written by this same reporter some months ago, along the same lines.

Anyone remember anything?

This has gone on for the last 3 1/2 years and until conservatives really make up their mind to address it, it will not stop.
The so called "Mainstream Media" is corrupt and has an agenda. They know that once they put something out there all of the recantations in the world cannot wipe it away.
You will also notice when most lies are told on Conservatives or Republicans and people they could care less about the retraction is always put somewhere in the newspaper burried away or mentioned at a time when less people will here it.
It could be stopped and addressed. It is a known fact the so called "Mainstream Media" survives only because of moderates and conservatives and if you don't believe it look at the radio. Most liberals fade when you put them out there on the radio airwaves and the reason being most liberals want to be entertained and listen to a lot of music and view mostly smut.
Look at who led the ratings in the Republican Convention and you will see why the Liberals have their Senators writing the FEC and trying to stiffle FOX.
Folks, if Conservatives don't soon come together and take a stand we wont be able to.I mean like singling out and boycotting these people. The liberals use the court system through liberal judges to manipulate and rewrite the law. They are not only rewriting our law they are subverting our Constitution and getting away with it with the help of the so called "Mainstream Media". What has happened to "Memo Gate"? It has been swept under the rug and their is no better proof in the world as to what is going on with our so called "Judicial System" and the way it is being manipulated than that single incident. Trading votes and money for stopping the appointment of a judge that could upset their affirmative action agenda.
Make no mistake about the upcoming election it is about many things but the most important one is the U.S. Supreme Court. We can sit back if we wish and allow activist judges help the Democrats overthrow our government and constitution and it will be hell to pay for those we leave behind. If you want a dictator don't vote or vote Democrat!
Every principle America was founded on has eroded and without sound leadership at the least terrorist will be taking over our schools like in Russia and at worse we will have a dictator to go along with it.
If America doesn't take a stand those I love will see America disintegrate worse than the old Roman Empire.

The more I think about it, the more I think I'm remembering correctly. I think there was a similar controversy over an AP story earlier this year, and this was the reporter who wrote.

Please, FReepers, put on your thinking caps, and see if you can remember this for me!
