I seem to recall the common sense argument that some adults in every school in America should be armed. It's that little notion of self defense. Terrorists can't rig explosives to blow up your children if they are dead on the floor, riddled with bullets.
That plan - provided the armed adults have the training and will to IMMEDIATELY begin shooting (which is unlikely in our procedure-based, lawsuit happy modern socities)- would deal with the odd nutball or two. In this case, there were 20 to 30 terrorists armed with AK-47s, suicide belts, and bags of explosives. Essentially, it was a platoon assault. No reasonable school security force could or should be expected to deal with that.
Big, centralized schools. Great idea for another time. Bad idea when enemies are looking for soft targets. It's a luxury to have such institutions.
You know, that makes so much sense that you know in your heart of hearts that it cannot be implemented. There is not a sufficient amount of smelling salts in this country to revive the liberals who would faint dead away if they heard such a proposal.
