Rebel Chechen leader, Shamil Bassayev, was the mastermind behind the school siege in the North Ossetian town of Beslan, ITAR-TASS news agency reported quoting spokesmen of the Southern Federal District secret service.
The operation was organized by Bassayev’s subordinate, Magomet Yevloyev. He is also suspected of having organized the attack in Ingushetia in June.
Another infamous Chechen rebel, Doku Umarov, was among the rebels who attacked the school. He was the only one not to wear a mask, with hostages subsequently recognizing him, the NTV television channel reported.
The operations headquarters in Beslan stressed that the group that seized the school was multinational. Most of the killed gunmen were born in Arab countries. The suicide bombers were trained by the al-Qaeda specialists, the agency quoted the secret service as saying.
One wounded Islamic terrorist was already hung by the families and then shot in the head. I understand another or others were kicked to death!
I have to hand it to you. You may very well be right.
Tonight I blundered upon some horrific Russian coverage of the terrorist attack on C-Span. (1)
It tore at one's heart to see those little children murdered by the "religion of peace" thugs.
The Russian reporter said something that was interesting. She said when the terrorists detonated the bombs and started firing upon the fleeing hostages, local residents immediatey returned fire. Then the Russian special forces were forced to finish the grisly work of taking out the terrorists because they had no choice once the scum perps started killing the hostages.
So it seems Russsian citizens do have the right to keep arms. The wife and I saw sporting rifles and even single barrel shotguns in the hands of men wearing working clothes.

I already e-mailed the consulate. I didn't say anything about politics, i.e. now that you can empathize you can support what we're doing. I just told them I prayed for the families of the victims. I assume they understand the rest.
Yeah, I read your first paragraph itching to respond, and realized after the second that you might get it after all.
Don't leave out parts of Africa --- Nigeria and the Sudan for example. Maybe they're tired of the slaughter they've suffered at the hands of muslims also.
Of course there's ties between the Chechan terrorists and Al-Qaeda itself. That's always been known long before 9/11, at least as far I am concerned. Many of these same Chechan terrorists fought alongside OBL when Russia went to war with Afghanistan in the 1980's. Many of these spilintered terrorist groups operate with different tactics, under different names by different leaders. I believe today they all are interconnected.
In this day and age, don't count on the media to do your "homework" for you. They would just as soon pin the blame for all of this on Bush going to war in Iraq before arriving at the truth.
Let's see how many demand Russia not use the death penalty.
And how many will demand that it is a policing issue, not a military one.

Please do not leave out the operative words, Muslim, Mohammeden, Islamic, Arab, that should preceed terrorist. Only one at a time is necessary, except for Arab, which should be used anytime Arab is also operative along with one of the other three, the world needs to know sooner rather than later.
