My guess is the old soviets would have dealt with this by bombing every Chechen school while it was in session. The only way to deal with terrorists is to kill them or inflict so much horror on them that they beg for peace.
The "old soviets" would have never let them get organized well enough for any type of rebellion.
I am not 100% sure, but I heard the old soviets did not tolerate terrorism. They would find family members of terrorists, and start sending body parts to the terrorists. I guess it worked. I am not saying this should happen, only that I heard it was what they used to do.
The old Soviets had a few of their people kidnapped in Lebanon, hear tell.
Also understand that the Commies grabbed a few of the Islamonuts, disassembed them with power tools, and sent them home to momma in a cardboard box. End of discussion- problem solved.
