What I always wonder is why there is so much poverty in the Arab countries that have the oil.

You can't seriously wonder. The ruling dictator/king/President for life/elite class is fabulously wealthy.

Having access to natural resources is never a guarantee of wealth. Japan and the UK are wealthy but have virtually no resources. S America is blessed with resources but is still "developing". The Saudi people ARE starting to take notice that their kings are not exactly good moral Moslems.
