Kerry's own polling has to have shown him this...that's why he's got over the bend.

Exactly. Midnight last night was about one thing, his base. His base is fragile and on shells. It's built on Micheal Moron and anti-war. He CAN'T win with just his base if national security is the issue, it gets him 45% at best. He'll have to spend the next weeks as an attack dog trying to push down Bush's numbers while the Bush campaign runs "Morning in America II". John Kerry meet Michael Dukakis.

Folks, this is nothing if not 1988 redux. Bush 41 went into that convention 8 points behind and came out 8 points ahead, and never looked back. Kerry has only the debates left to try to throw the Hail Mary and pull this out.
