The former hostages are receiving therapy in mobile hospitals and clinics of Beslan and Vladikavkaz, the source said.
Some 130 wounded people, including children, are in the Vladikavkaz clinic. The republican clinic has 38 patients, including five children, with the severest wounds and traumas, and the childrens clinic of Vladikavkaz has admitted 186 children.
Eighty adults are receiving therapy in the airmobile hospital, 200 in the medical emergency clinic, 32 in the republican clinic, two in the military hospital of Vladikavkaz, and four in the first town hospital of Vladikavkaz.
The town hospital of Beslan has admitted 98 adults, two were sent to the defense ministry hospital in Vladikavkaz, and one is in the Ardon town hospital.
The majority of patients have bullet wounds in the back, the sources said.
The storming of the school, was not prepared, the Russian presidents adviser Aslambek Aslakhanov told reporters on Friday. We were getting ready for dialogue in order to avoid spilling blood, he said.
Aslakhanov arrived in Beslan by air to take part in negotiation with the hostage takers.
According to Aslakhanov, the terrorists demanded the withdrawal of the troops from Chechnya and the release of all the people who had been arrested for attacking the security agencies of Ingushetia on June 22.
Aslakhanov said seven to 30 terrorists had been in the captured school. There were representatives of various ethnic groups in the gang. It was fully international, he said.
The number of those killed in the Beslan hostage crisis may by far exceed 150," Aslakhanov said.
Seventy-nine victims of the hostage crisis were identified by 9:15 p.m. Moscow time, head of the Federal Security Services North Ossetian department and the crisis center Valery Andreyev said.
Unfortunately, the death rate is mounting, he said adding that the operation against the terrorists is going on.
I agree...am I missing the big thread?
Armed teachers...no thanks. I agree with whoever said not trusting the teachers to have them...it is too haphazard, surely the guns would get into the wrong hands and fast. You have to remember that teachers are often 22 year old girls who can barely multitask to get their hair dry before class let alone handle the responsibility of a gun. The odds of having and coordinating certified teachers that are also capable of handling a weapon are pretty poor.
I myself am a teacher and I don't want to have a loaded gun in a room full of kids (yes, I know I'd want one at the moment of horror...but I fear a different moment of horror would manifest itself.)
I certainly think a few armed police officers stationed at schools is a consideration. Actually, some schools DO have guns on staff already...I've seen them in my observations in the more needy neighborhoods.
I also agree that the answer isn't to OVERindulge on protecting vulnerabilities ...it's to go after the disease and eradicate it.
Plus we're so politically correct here in this country, that would mean we'd give guns to the Arab muslim teachers who are in our schools.
Like we aren't?
Of course, we also.
I only could read the first paragragh. I don't have the heart to finish reading the article you provided, at least not today.
All I can do is keep praying, especially tomorrow when I visit God's house.
May God save us from a repeat of such tragedy in the States. As Columbine proved, our schools are vulnerable, and our children are at God's mercy.
Nuke Mecca. Islamic religion is over...
I find it an zingly simple solution to world wide terrorism - - 50 kiloton blast one mile directly above Mecca -- no more Islamic religion. They worship that rock, make it into gravel...
I have mixed feelings about this idea. I mean it does make sense. But I am not convinced that this is a religous war. It's along the same lines of the terrorist fight in Northern Island. It is Catholic vs Protestant, but still not a religous war. I see this war as similar.
Nuking Mecca would guarantee it becomes a religous war.
