Look, I admit you have a point. However, I am bothered by the knee jerk attitude of many people on both sides. I hated Clinton's guts (look me up on this site for some of my screeds against him) but what he did in avoiding the draft was perfectly legal as well....and I don't recall anyone giving him this kind of slack! Why not? Partisan poltics pure and simple. At least Clinton opposed the war. Cheney didn't. If people are going to throw stones, they should be reading to take it as well as dish it ou.

Clinton actually received a draft notice and I don't think you can assert his avoidance was "perfectly" legal.

Note: I am not commenting further than that, but it is ridiculous to say it was hum-drum run of the mill what every other guy did to avoid service activity and thus "perfectly" legal. It compares in no way whatsoever to Dick Cheney.

You and I agree here - Clinton is / was / always will be scum.

Clinton's dodging the draft is NOT honourable and was not legal at the time - President Ford had to pardon the Draft Dodgers so that they could return to the United States without fear of imprisonment.

Cheney, IF his deferements (and the is a question as to whether there were any at all) were taken in a calculated attempt to never be inducted also acted dishonourably! I have yet to see any commentary regarding this from Cheney so I am still withholding judgement. A clarification of what deferments actually WERE used would also be in order! As Kerry's "5 Deferments" charge has already been partially debunked.
