Great speech with a theme - Liberty and Opportunity. Now let's see what the President's opponent has to offer in response.

That's funny but I thought that Texans hit homers out of Yankee Stadium not Madison Square Gardens. :)

I watched it at a Round Table Pizza place where 60 of us from the WA State 47th district Republicans gathered. We loved the video they showed just before the his speech. When they were showing the first pitch at the 2001 World Series in NY the place ERUPTED! That part was put together so well, they even slooooowed down the throw for the dramatics of the whole thing. The speech he gave was fantastic, and had so many great lines.

Chisel this one in granite - "As long as our country stands, people will look to the resurrection of New York City and they will say: Here buildings fell, and here a nation rose."

Like FOX News I want to be fair and balaced, so I'm including by vote for the best protest chant.(as recorded and played on this mornings Laura Ingraham show) - "Exon, Mobile, BP, Shell, take your war and go to H&##."
I was laughing so hard when she played it, a sip of coffee went down the wrong pipe and I made one a heck of a mess.

I KNEW it was Peggy Noonan who'd crafted that speech. It was masterful, in content and craft.

Notice how comfortable President Bush was with the words, the cadence. His delivery was good because she is a writer who knows how to work WITH the speaker, to learn HIS rhythms, rather than try to force a style that is foreign to him. And it spoke of Republican principles in ways that were simple, understandable and appealing to 'regular' people.

I was crying and thanking God last night that Peggy had taken a sabbatical (from writing for the Wall Street Journal) to help Bush. And thanking Peggy, because I don't see how anyone who watched that speech could fail to be moved. If he is re-elected (please!!), her work will have had much to do with it!

I don't know about the rest of Bush's 'base' -- but this is one Bush supporter who is fired up!
