"So the widow of a George Bush opponent tells a story about a phone call which she was not a party to?.....
This is reportage?"
My sentiments exactly. The widow of a Bush opponent making comments about a story she heard from a Bush opponent about a phone call that she heard about from a Bush opponent.
For the record, I once heard of story from a Kerry opponent about a phone call from a Kerry opponent when I heard said that John Kerry admitted to being a party to the Kennedy assassination.

Is there anyone out there who doesn't believe that W was a rounder in his youth? Is there anyone who doesn't believe that the Bush's are loyal and when you betray them that they will turn against you? Is there anyone besides a hard-core, bitter and angry liberal Dimocrat who gives a hang about this. Bush has never trumpeted lies about his National Guard service. I don't care if he spent the whole darned year drunk and partying.
What he has done in the last 4 years is show his leadership and given another 4 years and hopefully, coattails which will increase the GOP majority, he will be able to further his vision for America and it will be better for his vision and courage.

"I mean seriously........how many times can this get reported as brand new?"
Then why, for someone who just joined FR a few days ago, DID you post it?

What about Kerry's missing TWO years? Exactly. JF'nK comes back from VN and as a member of the Naval Reserve is suppose to show up for regular meetings ...he never shows up for all of 1971 and half of 1972.

EVEN IF THIS IS TRUE (which I doubt), George W. Bush was a fighter pilot. IIRC, fighter pilots fly hard, and they party harder.

I thought it, too, until somebody corrected me; that's what so great about FR, isn't it? Keeping us from making fools out of ourselves in the general population!

Hillary? We already know there will be an "October Suprise." What we want to know is what you have to do with it.

I don't really get what you're implying, but for the record, I will report the dastardly deeds of the nefarious democrats as quickly as I can find them. This is something that the dem on WLS-AM Chicago is already trying to force into the news (along with Salon.com and the U.K. Guardian), and we all need to be aware of this crap before it gets dropped as an October surprise bomb.

Even if this is true (as much as I could skim through) who cares? George W. Bush has decades separating himself from that point of his life, he has a record, relationships that speak of his loyalty and discipline, etc. etc. etc. John Kerry has nothing. In my opinion what makes the Swift Boat Vet's so devastating is that there is not one thing Kerry has done since to show that he has changed. He didn't trust the military then and he doesn't trust them now. He didn't see a reason to fight then and he's not too sure about it now. He doesn't believe in our history as liberators and defenders of freedom then and he doesn't now.

concern about the apparent double standard in Bush surrogates attacking John Kerry's Vietnam War record while ignoring the president's irresponsible conduct during the war. Even if ALL this was true, so what?
I don't think Bush has claimed he was a hero.
He did not pretend that this was the high point of hius life.

There's also someone who supposedly is going to go onto 60 minutes with the story that he helped GWB get into the NG and he's oh, so ashamed about it now.

This isn't going to work for three reasons. (1) Bush has repeatedly defended Kerrys service so if Kerry doesn't defend Bush, it does look like Kerry is behing this, (2) Bush went through a well-publicised conversion to being a responsible adult that seperates President Bush from the George W. Bush of the early 1970s, and, most importanly, (3) Bush has not been hanging his qualifications for the presidency on either his Air National Guard service or his behavior as a young man. Bush can appologize for any and all of this if he wants. Can Kerry? Will he?

Also note that this woman live in an apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Yet, after receiving unusual permission to transfer to the Alabama Guard from Texas, Bush has produced no evidence he showed up for service for anything other than a dental exam.
Is that true?
