The Dallas Morning News story said he got two years for the animal cruelty charge, and EIGHT YEARS because his pit bulls were classified, under Texas law, as deadly weapons.

Truly a sick individual and somebody that deserves to be puished...but...

10 years seems way too excessive... Heck, murders, rapists, and terrorists usually don't get 10 years. As much as I like animals, the life of an animal doesn't equate to the life of a human.

What a sick piece of crap. They should should tie this guy up and throw him in a cage with a couple of pit bulls and let him get the same treatment he gave the neighbor's dog. Ten years isn't enough if you ask me. One can only hope that his fellow inmates will make his incarceration as uncomfortable as possible.

Pit bulls are an extension of their owners' personalities, in my opinion. Their very presence says a whole lot about their owners, even if they have attacked nobody.

If you want a loving, affectionate animal that will lick and slobber over you and your neighbors get a Golden Retriever or a Labrador.

Pit bulls are singularly ugly beasts with a most unpredictable and antisocial disposition. Unless burglary or the threat of unwelcome visitors is a possibility, I have no idea why any sane person would want one.

Ah, Pit Bulls. My neighbor had two pit bulls; they attacked and killed our cat while their child, (a boy, about 14 at the time), sat across the street and watched. He made no effort to stop them. Heck, the dogs owner thought he could intimidate us from filing a complaint against the dog.

I was at work when this happened, otherwise, I'd have blasted both of the dogs.

We went to court and succeeded in having one of the dogs destroyed.

A few years later, a neighbor and I shot a Pit Bull to death while it attacked another neighbor's Beagle.

I'm not sure what's worse, the animal or their owners. The owner of the dog that we shot later said, "They didn't have to kill him". Yeah, right lady, just let your dog savage another animal. The beagle survived, btw.

One thing's for sure , some of my neighbors, (certain ethnic group), say, "He's crazy, he shot that Pit Bull", not to my face mind you, at least they know what my response will be if their dogs attack another animal or person.
