I think that would be absolutely awful. While I'd love to catch (preferably kill) Bin Laden ASAP, announcing it during the convention - even if it's just completely a coincidence - would likely hurt President Bush.
it could only hurt him if he made it sound like he's been waiting till now to announce it.
