Way to Go, JH2...another great one. I felt confident a month ago about the election. Even more so now.

Praying for all those in Florida. Stay Safe, JH2. Temple Owl, has your son evacuated? My Step-Dad packed up and left early this morning for a safer place. I know you have family in Florida, LadyX...where are they located?

Take Care All

Dearest Deadhead, thank you for asking, but my son is safe in California. He owns a home and a sailboat in Melbourne Beach right in the path of Frances. But sailboats and houses can be replaced.

Steve is in Davie (western suburb of Ft. Lauderdale) and called today to say he had put on his storm shutters.
After Frances strikes, his DMAT Team WILL be deployed to where they are needed most.

Kevin is in an area of West Palm Beach named LakeWorth. He didn't get hurricane shutters for his two-story house, and they will leave it and go either to his wife's parents' home on Biscayne Bay, if it comes in above there - or to her office building.
Susan is an attorney for the State of Florida on environmental issues, and their office was designed to withstand just about anything other than a tornado.

Mr.Owl, I moved from Coral Gables, Florida to Melbourne at age 9 1/2, until 18 - was there again for 4 years - returned to Port Malabar (Palm Bay) for 3 - then later lived in Ft. Pierce and Panama City.

Melbourne Beach used to be quite deserted below the few blocks of the town, with plenty of parking spots..:))

Have you seen in Melbourne on New Haven Avenue the three buildings converted into the Henegar Arts Center?
It was named for my 9th grade algebra teacher and later high school principal, Ruth Henegar.
The center building used to be our grades 1 through 6 - the east one 7 through 12 - the west one the cafeteria, band room and storage.

It served *ALL* children from the Sebastian River to halfway to Cocoa - and west to the St. John's River!

Not only is this hurricane twice the size of Charley, but according to the Weather Channel twice that of Andrew - the size of TEXAS....

It will indeed be devastating, moving at slow speeds...
