For what it is worth - Just heard Jeff Greenfield on CNN say that rumors have it that the job numbers on Friday will not be very good.
Not very good for whom?
Rumor schmoomer. The nobody has the numbers yet.
Hiring is picking up in Silicon Valley.....
In other words, whatever the numbers are, CNN will declare them "bad."
Probably....
Spend any time around bond traders and you'll know where most of these "rumors" come from. "Buy the rumor, sell the fact."
Wouldn't it be great if it was a GOP insider who knows the numbers are actually strong who was spreading rumors of bad numbers to downplay expectations? If everyone was expecting a bust, and then the real numbers showed 400,000 jobs added, it would shoot W's numbers through the roof.
Probably just wishful thinking, I know.
I hope the rumors are untrue. No matter the details... If the raw numbers are not good, then I'm sure I'll be made ill by weeks of media/Dems spin.
there will almost certainly be job losses in FL due to the hurricane...

New York, September 1, 2004--The Hudson Employment Index (SM) continued its ascent in August to 108.9, marking a half-point increase from July and revealing another small, yet steady rise in employee confidence in the labor market. The percentage of workers worried about losing their jobs, dropped to 17 percent this month. That matches its lowest reading of the year.
Nationwide, the percentage of employees who anticipate hiring in their firms remained stable. Thirty-three percent (33%) of workers and 34% of managers report that their companies are hiring. Private sector workers continued to be more bullish than the overall workforce, with 39 percent reporting hiring plans by their employers for the fifth straight month.
Meanwhile, the number of workers rating their personal finances as excellent or good has grown incrementally, peaking this month at 45 percent.
"Employees are maintaining an overall positive outlook on jobs despite current debate about the strength of the labor market," said Jeff Anderson, senior vice president of Hudson Global Resources. "Since the beginning of the year, we have seen a notable increase in the demand for staffing and outsourced solutions. In fact, the number of consultants that Hudson North America has placed grew over 30 percent since January."
In Florida, where residents are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Charley, employee confidence dropped significantly last month. The Florida Index declined from 116.9 in July to 108.6 in August.
They probably will be after FOX sweeps the ratings coming out of the Convention coverage.
It seems someone found a way to rig the signup dates and the DU trash are sliming in.
Of course, it would be smart in one way for Repubs to start this rumour if they know it is not true.
On other hand, it could have been started b/c Dems want to get media talking about this and not how much Kerry sucks on homeland security.
or perhaps they are speaking of the impending Kerry campaign layoffs due to the CNN-rumored "shake-up"!!!
