Bush Gets Endorsement of NYC Firefighters

Bush Touts Endorsement of New York Firefighters Union, on His Way to Republican Convention

The Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio Sept. 1, 2004 — President Bush drew the endorsement of a New York City firefighters union Wednesday, a reminder to voters of the Sept. 11 attacks that he has made a centerpiece of his re-election campaign.

After a quick stop for a campaign rally in Ohio, his 23rd visit to the state, Bush was headed for New York City where he will accept the Republican presidential nomination Thursday night. First, he was collecting the endorsement of the Uniformed Firefighters Association of Greater New York on Wednesday night.

Bush is getting some great endorsements. Arnold, McCain, Rudy and now the Democrat Senator.

None of these people had to endorse Bush. In fact they take political risk doing so - so their endorsements will carry a lot of weight. Especially considering that McCain differs on economic policy and Arnold on social policy (avowed abortionist).

So it looks like Bush has momentum. But remember what destroyed his father - the economy. Bush may not survive another set of bad employment numbers.

Bush may not survive another set of bad employment numbers

The last report I heard, was that 94.5 % of eligible
citizens had achieved employment.

"Bush may not survive another set of bad employment numbers."

I must regretfully agree. Sad to say, it seems Americans value their pocketbook above everything else. If Kerry can convince the weakminded, that make up much of the electorate, that he can bring them their bread and circuses - they will vote for him. The truth is that both the current president or any future one is pretty much at the mercy of what the economy does - they can only effect it in small ways. Perception is everything in this matter.

Let us hope that the perception of the american people is that the economy is OK - it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and will help get President Bush reelected.

Kerry is toast. The endorsement won't turn the state of New York but there goes Pennsylvania and Ohio and possibly even New Jersey.

Note that the article writer felt compelled to mention the stinkin' protesters.

Otherwise, all right! Yet another thing to make Kerry's day worse.

Bush first visit to WTC after 9-11. As he used a megaphone to communicate with recovery crews, one firefighter yelled "We can't hear you!" And Bush responded: "The people who did this will be hearing from us..."

Finally, a union that actually endorses the candidate chosen by the rank and file instead of by the career socialist craphounds that run the union. If anyone is in a union you should make clear to the people that run it to stop taking marching orders from John Sweeney at the AFL-CIO who ironically is the greatest exploiter of working people.

Refreshing to see a union support its workers as it is supposed to do.

Now THESE men I respect! They risk their lives and have not forgotton!

Many union workers aren't aware that Sweeney is a diehard socialist. Hopefully after Bush wins re-election and rank and file notice how much of their hard earned dues have been frittered away by the craphound Sweeney in his goal of electing Kerry they will have him thrown out of office.

I wonder what Schaitberger is thinking. For those of you who don't know Harold Schaitberger is President of the IAFF.
Doesn't look good.

I agree that the best government can do for the economy is leave it alone. It is bad precedent to expect governments to fix the economy, but that is what the public insanely believes. But maybe this time it is different. I'm not sure who these idiots are who think terror is a made up enemy? So Putin staged the 2 plane crashed? The hostage taking? The events last year in Moscow? I'm sure Chomskiites think so.
