My impression of the Weathermen and other anti-war radicals was that they were more wrapped up in themselves and the power of their actions than they were in the socialist agenda that they were supporting.

I would tend to agree. The stated purpose was "socialism in our time", but the underlying motivation was basically nihilistic.

The sixties radicals weren't into building anything. But destruction suited them just fine...

Sounds like John Kerry. It is also what made them (and makes Kerry) a 'useful idiot' to our enemies.
