Ha ha. Well, they said it, not me:
"Remember all those times when you're growing up and your parents embarrased you? Well, this is payback time on live t.v.!"
(I loved it and thought they we're funny. I'm sure that their family loved it too!)
Video of twins convention speech courtesy msnbc.com here
I know many "kids that age". Most aren't so self-absorbed.
I'm not 22. I don't have their personalities. I've never spoken to millions of people in a very high pressure situation.
Maybe you are all of the above, but I highly doubt it..........and if you aren't, you can't make a comparison between these charming young ladies and yourself. (Besides which, you're not even close to being as charming as they are.)
And all of you who have let this bother you so much really do need to get a life.
This has nothing to do with setting any bar any place, high or low.
It has to do with a basic understanding of who was speaking Tuesday night, and why, and its relative importance in the scheme of things.
You guys are WAY over the top in making a big deal about this.
The Bush twins are absolutely charming, well-grounded, classy, funny and delightful, and they love their parents a whole lot.
Their appearance Tuesday was clearly 'unprofessional,' but they are brand new to this political process, and frankly, no one with a brain should have expected more of them.
I think these 'critics' here are just plain jealous.......
BTTT
You seem obsessed with these girls actually being perceived as being bad.
You need to lighten up.
I still think some of them are jealous.......
How old are YOU?
Their father and grandfather were U.S. Presidents, and they are still absolutely normal.
And what makes you think this was 'self-absorbtion' anyway?
This was about their Dad, and their loving, fun-filled family.
MOST of us saw that. It makes me wonder what's wrong with the folks who didn't.....
*rolling my eyes*
So your original comment stated, "I would LOVE to see the same stress put on any of you and see if YOU would do as well as the twins did." Now you as much as admit that you could do better, and grant that I could as well.
Should I assume that you've backed off the earlier comment?
Maybe you are all of the above, but I highly doubt it..........and if you aren't, you can't make a comparison between these charming young ladies and yourself. (Besides which, you're not even close to being as charming as they are.)
Gee, I'm devastated. I guess I need to start making more references to Sex and the City if I'm to get into your good graces.
And all of you who have let this bother you so much really do need to get a life.
It doesn't bother me in the least. I commented that I thought it was embarrassing - still do. You're the one who's come onto this thread and fired yourself up over my comments. In the grand scheme this has no effect on the election.
This has nothing to do with setting any bar any place, high or low. It has to do with a basic understanding of who was speaking Tuesday night, and why, and its relative importance in the scheme of things.
Brings up a valid point...why were they speaking, and what is it that the twins needed to communicate? To what audience? And did they accomplish said goal?
Feel free to enlighten us.
You guys are WAY over the top in making a big deal about this.
See me comment above. You're the one making a big deal of things.
I'm amused that you are still 'embarrassed' by this. It says much more about you than it does about the twins........exactly what, I don't know. I don't have a degree in psychology, and I think I'd need that or more, to figure out why such an innocent thing is causing so much angst deep down in your soul.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have much better things to do than 'debate' this trivia with you, and your emotional troubles with it. I DO have a life.
(Oh........and about whether or not they accomplished their goal.....the answer is YES. They introduced their Dad with humor and love.........and my guess is that THAT's what bugs you the most).
Hope the President's speech tonight meets your lofty expectations.
If they were polished, they would somehow be cold and calculating.
If I were a betting woman, I'd say that their political problems with the twins' father is behind their emotional stress about this so-called 'embarrassment.'
I call that rebutting your argument point by point. I note that you haven't been able to muster the same.
I'm amused that you are still 'embarrassed' by this.
I'm embarrassed for the twins. It wasn't exactly their shining moment, as many have noted.
It says much more about you than it does about the twins
What can I say - I'm a compassionate guy.
exactly what, I don't know. I don't have a degree in psychology, and I think I'd need that or more,
I doubt a psychology degree would solve your problem.
I DO have a life.
Oh, I can tell.
Hope the President's speech tonight meets your lofty expectations.
I'm sure it will.
Sounds like projection to me. Just because you're dominated by emotions with regard to President Bush & family, doesn't mean the rest of us approach matters the same way.
(btw, you want to know what I do with my life? Next time you have a few hours, I'll start to tell you. I won't finish, cause I won't have time because there's so much to tell, but I can give you a rough idea if you're really interested).
And, talk about projection! You let 2 girls comments embarrass you for days, and accuse me of undue emotion. LOL! Funny guy.
Now, please. Try to let all those bad feelings go.......OK? There's no need to stay embarrassed about this.........really, there isn't.
President Bush is going to give a great speech tonight, and he's going to be reelected, and we'll have four more years of strong, moral leadership. Your embarrassment at his daughters notwithstanding, I hope you at least understand that THAT is all that matters.....
Oh yeah...........and I hope you're doing your part to make sure President Bush wins, and this country doesn't land in the hands of JfKerry. Now HIS daughters ARE embarrassing...... :o)
well, aren't YOU special !?!?!
