I don't know about Elaine Chao, but the only reason I never changed my name is because I can't pronounce my husband's name very well, my family can't pronounce it, and I didn't relish the idea of constantly spelling it out for everybody for the rest of my life.

I understand that! My daughter just automatically starts spelling her married name - NO ONE can spell it correctly.
