Kerry appearance at American Legion - live thread
self

Posted on 09/01/2004 4:46:34 AM PDT by rudy45

Sorry for starting this thread so early. Is this like calling "shotgun" three days before the trip starts LOL?

I was trying to find out the time that the Senator's speech will occur. I found nothing at the Legion website (www.legion.org), nor at the Kerry site, nor at CSPAN. When will the speech be given?

Anyway, here is a thread for people to post their comments.

It does get a bit redundant.

Yankees in the South learn the nuances of Southern mores and practice them here. LOL

My two cents...

IF Kerry had apologized to the vets, then Kerry would be the story on the news tonight and in the morning instead of Zell Miller and Kerry's extreme liberal record in the Senate. Kerry spent a mere 23 seconds and 73 words addressing his Senate record at the DNC convention. Kerry blew it big time by not apologizing!

Likewise, IF the AL attendees had treated him rudely and stood with their backs to him, walked out, etc. then that would be the story tonight and tomorrow. Again, by showing great restraint they have taken a huge arrow out of the Mainstream Media quiver to defend Kerry and the focus of the news will default to tonight's RNC.

In what I saw of the speech, the audience was not at all enthusiastic and Kerry was neither cheerful nor optimistic. That personal negativism will help to get votes for Bush from the ones who are only half-listening to the political debate much less the Swift Vets.

Cementing your reputation for idiocy with such ridiculous comments doesn't help you.

Nice tagline. Apparently, that didn't matter today. Sorry, for wanting Kerry to get some of his own medicine. Wasn't he a speech-interrupting-irreverent-to-politicians activist?

Adios.

"I look forward to Carl Cameron's report."

I wish there was an email address for Carl.

Not sure it's a Dukakis moment. I believe that was the bunny suit. This was quite a moment, though. In answer to your other questions: Yes.

Because nobody on this thread is honest. The truth is we watched this speech because we wanted him to crash and burn.... it didn't happen, why the Hell didn't it? I'm the only one telling it like it is.

Its worse than a Dukakis moment. Kerry is arrogant, conceited and a narcissist. Its all about HIM. He will NEVER apologize, never owe up to his past because in his own mind, he did nothing wrong. Today was the Classic Kerry, the guy who you know acts like we are all here to do him a favor. His speech to the AL was like, "Hey there peasants, don't you know who I am?" And then he proceed to throw them crumbs. In his world, he's entitled. After all, he WAS born in the "west wing." And any one who disagrees had better get out of his way. That's Kerry to a T.

That's what I was afraid of -- the "if" apology. It's a nothing apology and would be cheap to do. I wonder why he didn't do it. ANY IDEAS, GUYS?????

Well he is the Prince of Darkness.

Thank you, Faith. I thought you were a she, but some said otherwise..:~)

Yes, it bothers me. But I didn't honestly expect a polite group of Vets to be rude to a guest speaker. And I'm not foolish enough to assume some of them weren't Democrats. Most of them probably were. It happens.

You miss the whole point with these threads. Some things go without saying. AND others shouldn't be said because of the unwanted repercussions on other forums. Do you get my drift?

We don't have to say everything that's on our minds all in one thread. That's all.

What does the National Guard statement mean?(pnzl)

It means that the National Guard doesn't have any actual duties. To require them to actually serve when they clearly didn't sign up for that is the same thing as drafting them. They're being drafted through deception (back door) rather than an outright draft.BykrBayb

I took it as a subtle dig at Bush being in the National Guard, too.

And, before he can do that, he's going to have to get the House and the Senate to approve an increase in the manning numbers for the military ... which he would vote against if he were still in the Senate.

No question that Kerry's got a lot of nerve saying our troops need anything when he's voted time and again to deprive them.

Thank you for your reply!

The Swift Vets have been very blessed with wisdom in the timing and method in how they have handled all of this.

For instance, they first came up with the medals ad that drew Kerry and the media into a defense of "righteous indignation". And once they had them "engaged" on a battlefield of their own chosing, the SwiftVets slammed them hard with the '71 testimony and POW's.

I strongly suspect that great sense of timing will continue as they expose Kerry totally while he is in the limelight.

You are quite proud, I am certain of your opinion...

What do you think you have accomplished by stating it over and over and over and over?

What purpose do you serve by doing so? What great satisfaction does it bring? What goal has been reached?
