Kerry appearance at American Legion - live thread
self

Posted on 09/01/2004 4:46:34 AM PDT by rudy45

Sorry for starting this thread so early. Is this like calling "shotgun" three days before the trip starts LOL?

I was trying to find out the time that the Senator's speech will occur. I found nothing at the Legion website (www.legion.org), nor at the Kerry site, nor at CSPAN. When will the speech be given?

Anyway, here is a thread for people to post their comments.

He didn't stay around for the glad handing, and the one guy who stepped forward to shake his hand got dissed!!!

It's over. He salutes. A very few vets are on stage to shake his hand. There's a seated group on stage that looks aloof.

Nobody leaning over to shake his hand.

FROM THE DUmpster:

EXCELLENT GODDAMN SPEECH!

Man I am more impressed by this Legion speech than by anything I've ever seen from this cat. I am profoundly encouraged.

Bwa ha ha ha ha ha!

Boy, did you notice that nobody in the rows behind the front row on stage were reaching to shake his hand?

Very few smiles, and the few there were, were just polite smiles.

This was a chilly room today.

Were there more than two or three rows of people in that audience? I caught a glimpse of what appeared to be two rows of people in the audience as he walked out, but I'm not sure that I was seeing it correctly. It seemed so dark in that room.

If we had a drinking game with "Vietnam" and "John McCain," we'd be plastered from now till the election.

Our livers would never survive that drinking game *L*

At the end, I saw the listless reception he was getting from the folks he was shaking hands with.
I won't hold their own common courtesy against the Legion.

Hard to tell in that extremely dark setting he was in. I can't get over how he was shrouded in darkness.

No, his wording was correct on that. You only say "when I'm your President" when you're doing a party rally.

You really need to consider that many of those applauding were plants.

Those people did not seem remotely happy to have him there.

Never again. They are not an organiztion worth donating to. Sorry guys. Politeness to a traitor during a time of war isn't
what this country needs. They blew it. These men just got punked by a traitor. Wow!!! Appalling! Sometimes you got to stand up, they abetted him. No money from me to them. Their literature is going into the circular file. Sorry guys.

He in his hubris wanted to go. Then he had to go,,not to would have been really bad {can you imagine the cartoons}. So he went expecting the worst and it was worse than he expected. Boos and jeers could have been spun by the press as mean spirited vets. Silence and desultory applause tell a larger story. The man is in hell. I actually almost have a smidgen of pain for him, then I think of the Hanoi Hilton and the smidgen goes away.
