In an earlier story it was reported that Putin had been in top level discussions with Germany and France, and they were all wondering if the U.S. would join with their European allies.

What allies? They same ones who aligned with us when we were attacked?

Putin has two choices:

1) cave in and look like a massive puss

2) nuke Chechnya and say "ok, you can have you independence" and walk away from that mess

And Putin should trust America because? American policy towards support of Chechen islamists disgusts me.
