OK, now I'm pissed off. Look, I can take a bit of media bias. And frankly I was surprised at just how gracious and positive Chris Matthews, Andrea Mitchell, and the rest of the MSNBC crew were.
So I guess I wasn't too surprised that eventually, Ron Reagan had to spoil the party tonight on the MSNBC After Hours show, calling Schwarzenegger's speech "ordinary", and "expecting a little bit more."
But what pisses me off ROYALLY is that he launched into a speech about how this party's platform is against civil unions and gay marriage, and made the point that Schwarzenegger is "basically okay with gay marriage" (not true if his recall speeches are to be believed), and that this was the party that is okay with people going to funerals of gay people with signs that say "God Hates Fags."
Where the hell does he get off saying that! I mean, seriously. Do I accuse all the Democrats of supporting pedophilia just because NAMBLA is likely full of a bunch of Democrats? So who the heck does he think he is linking us to such cruelty?
I say this, incidentally, as a Christian who does believe that homosexual activity is sinful (just as I believe so about all extramarital sexual activity). But that's a far cry from those who would stomp on the graves of the dead.

Just heard his cigar/phallic comment - BWAHAHAHH
Methinks he doth protest too much.
If you do watch it, you'll get to see the Swift Boat ad about once an hour.
... Why exactly are you watching MSNBC in the first place?
That would be the Fred Phelps group - they protested Reagan's funeral with signs saying he's rotting in hell. I believe they're protesting the GOP convention.
They give Christians a bad name. And no, they're not representative of the republican party.
they just ran swift boat ad #2 - by far the best one.
As Ann Coulter said, Ron Reagan is the greatest living proof of the limitations of genetics.
Fair question---because oddly enough, Fox's panel was far less complimentary of Laura Bush than I expected, so I headed over to MSNBC to see if that was the unanimous opinion. And oddly enough, it wasn't! I thought I had my stations mixed up, in fact. Everyone, including Andrea Mitchell, was complimentary, though I knew that she was really looking for a way to slam the evening. And then Chris Matthews had Larry Gatlin on which was a treat.
And then Ron Reagan came on and ruined it.
If Ron Jr. said it on MSNBC only 12 or 13 people heard him.
"...he has the genes of a great man in him..."
It's more the genes of all the lesser men he's got...
Oh, never mind.
Fox has been running that ad for a while now.
Yep, it ticked me off, particularly since Fred Phelps of God Hates Fags is a Democrat! I was somebody had gone off on little Ronnie and asked him if the protestors who stomped on the cop were representative of his party.
Looks to me like you answered your own question: MSNBC has him on BECAUSE he's an embarrassment.
He is? Oh, that's rich! Now I DEFINITELY have to find a way to contact MSNBC.
I think another post I read summed it up nicely... conservatives look for substance and debate, so Laura Bush's speech didn't satisfy them--not enough substance. Liberals thrive on emotional response, and given the content of LB's speech, it made their hearts throb.
But that's semi-OT. The main point is, avoid MSNBC at all costs. At least 1/4 of their ratings come from conservatives who watch just to get angry at the hosts. There's always CNN for the liberal opinion disguised as news factor, but at least they do it somewhat professionally.
Do a web search on Fred Phelps and Al Gore, and you'll see what I mean. Phelps was invited to both Clinton-Gore inaugurals! Here's a pic of the two of them together:

Rich Lowry is a gorgeous looking girly man.
Ron, God doesn't hate fags? Why would he then create AIDS, stds, mental illness and make it impossible for them the reproduce themselves? Fags are deviants, perverts created to teach a lesson to who? Faggitude is a terrible disease and God's positve efforts would go, of course, into curing it.
He really is quite the petty little dweeb, isn't he?
Most Americans are not sophisticated lawyers or A-List types who make movies for a living. In my personal opinion, most people are kinda uncomfortable with this Gay-thing even though they may show up at a Gay Pride Parade to gawk at the marchers antics. Particularly if they live in the mid-west or the south because the gays gravitate towards the coasts and large cities.
Ron Reagan is too, too, too sophisticated. After all, he grew up in the film world.
I can guarantee Ron one thing: the talk at the watercooler tomorrow will be about Arnold, period. That was no ordinary speech, and it may well be remembered in the same light as Ronald Reagan's "A Time for Choosing".
It must pi$$ little Ron off that George W. Bush and now Arnold Schwartzenegger are BOTH learned more from his dad than he did. They will earn a place in history, and Ron won't even rate a footnote (except in dog show circles).
