Anybody know why the Kerry team did not want to the unwritten rule of being dark during the Republicans convention? I have looked over my notes and did not see Bush making appearances. If I am wrong let me know.

Kerrys ego. Kerry is running his own campaign. No sane campaign advisor would tell him to respond DURING the opponents convention.
Bush waited until the Friday morning after Kerry's speech. Kerry is speaking tomorrow at the VFW and now Thursday night.
They basically don't want the news cycle the day after the election to be about nothing but Bush and the Republicans... So the big political news of the day won't just be GWB's speech, but also Kerry's response.
Since he couldn't get a bounce from his convention he wants to make sure that Bush doesn't get one free news cycle if possible.... I don't think it will work, but that's likely their thinking.

I saw on the Nashville news that he was giving a little speech when he arrived here earlier tonight (stage set-up and everything). I couldn't make myself listen to it though.
He is toast.
I can't imagine anyone caring what he is going to do after Thursday night. I want to see what kind of reception he is going to get tomorrow at the American Legion.
