Thanks. You are better-educated in the field of American economics than I. Many of us see this slide into socialism and realize that socialism always fails, but there seems to be little we can do about it, since we elect those who end up lying to us and refuse to listen to us. Most people I know have no confidence in or respect for politicians anymore.
bttt
In Canada we practice some odd forms of socialism.
In most nations where people are expected to move to the opportunity, in Canada our "wise" federal government attempts a beggar thy neighbour policy between provinces. Much of federal taxes are sent to provinces that have bad economics to "bolster" their economies and provide better unemployment benefits. It pisses off those in the provinces that are holding the rest of the nation together.
The other form, also practiced in the US, is corporate welfare. Large, politically connected (very very important to have former politicians on your board of directors) corporations go hat in hand to successive governments. For example our auto industry has received a couple hundred million from federal and provincial governments. It makes me sick. You would think businessmen would have some self-respect. But not these businessmen. Now I live out West, so my question, WTF do I want my tax money going to Ontario to help the Ontario auto industry hire Ontarions? Screw you guys. Leave my wallet alone and if you want to waste money, waste your own damn money. It would be like the United States sending millions to subsidize the Alaskan natural gas projects.
Well, there's my rant. We are fighting the socialists at every front. Some of those socialists (Michael Moore, Chomsky) are on side with the Islamo-facists.
Big time here in the USA. You won't hear the politicians or the media talking about it, though. Now they're expecting us to support illegal aliens too, and believe me, they are here IN THE MILLIONS, especially from Mexico and South America. The middle class in America is dwindling, and I always wonder who will pay the bills when we're outnumbered?
My daughter in law lives in Toronto, and she tells me that they are being invaded by illegal aliens from mostly the Asian countries. Do they collect welfare and other social services too? Canada should take note of what's happening in America on that issue.
Thank You Ping!
He's so much better when not so heavily-scripted.
South Park raised corporate welfare as an issue. How airlines have gotten billions for being bad businessmen, and still screw the consumer.
I agree that we are financially doomed. Baby boomers will leave the tax rolls and a much smaller generation will have to pay that generation's debt. As much as I hate taxes, this is why deficit spending is such a bad idea.
I just know we have too many people on welfare period. The worse thing about illegal immigrants is how grossly unfair it is to those who came here legally. We have triad gang members that won't be sent back to China, b/c China won't guarantee they won't get the death penalty. Then we harbour terrorists. The politicians do what they can to frustrate the Canadian Intellegence Service and the RCMP. The RCMP are not even allowed to keep some of these immigrants, who have committed crimes in Canada, under surveillance.
Frank, Frank, Frank Frank Frank - you make an accusation of my being "immature and crass" then blather on about your manhood in comparison to me and make like you want to fight. I call that immature and stupid. I used the family concept as an analogy to make a point against your other blathering and even a fool could see that I was not disparaging your family; I was disparaging your emotional comments that lacked the balance of reason. Now your underwear is hanging out for all to see. Have a good day.
