Those of you who saw the convention last night: did you notice that Cheney didn't stand up during at least one ovation? He seemed very tired.

I saw that. It was near the end of the evening and everyone stood (again) in tribute to Vice President Cheney after Giuliani praised his service. Flattery puts one in a slightly uncomfortable position, you never know whether to stand or remain seated. IMHO, he wasn't tired, he was making a judgment call.

No, you usually don't stand up when it's you being applauded. It's sort of like you are applauding yourself.

I believe Cheney did not stand when Rudy was talking about him, which i think was smart, as this convention is about W, not Cheney and Cheney does not want to appear as a "Svengali" behind W.

I think that one stay-seated moment was just modesty on Cheney's part. Given what was being said, he'd have been hammy to take a bow.

Yes; I noticed that. Began to wonder how the ol' ticker was doing' for a while there; darn near had me worried.

McCain might wind up as VP yet.
And that is NOT a scenario I want to see unfold.

Mr. Cheney may be the most "conservative" candidate on the GOP ticket we are going to see for a looooooong time, if this leftward lurch by the Party continues, as I'm afraid it's going to.

your are absolutely correct and so was Vice President Cheney. The speaker was talking about the Vice President!

Would not be prudent.
