I don't think it would cause any confusion at all. See Widow Carnahan (who was not on the ballot). They will know exactly who to vote for, and the DEM get-out-the-vote machine is second to none. I think the DEM voters would pull a DEM lever, even if the "name" recited on the ballot was "to be determined."
Straight ticket voting is not allowed anymore in Illinois.
So the voter will have to pick out names. If no candidate is associated then many will wonder if the ex-candidate's name next to an elector means that a vote would not go to another unnamed candidate. It would be very confusing for many of the dim bulbs who normally vote RAT. Just explaining "elector" will cause a large percentage to space out.
Widder Carahan was not on the ballot. Her late husband was. She was never elected. Her husband's corpse was. Plus there was massive fraud in St. Louis. Which could NEVER happen again since the eagle eyes from the UN will be observing. :^)
