True, they’re fascists, but as Pat has noted, If the people are corrupt, the more democracy, the worse the government, and having allowed the neocon takeover, the people surely must be corrupt. Besides, the worship of democracy as a form of governance, like all idolatries, democratism substitutes a false god for the real, a love of process for a love of country, so with a Franco or Pinochet there’s not much lost.
