The latest runs appear to be settling on a mid-Florida landfall. GFDL still outlier to right but shifting south. Still lots of time for that to change....dont count out recurvature.

Palm beach needs to watch this one
Is half of Florida going to be one big disaster area after this hurricane season?
Frances is also now hauling ass. Some meterologists I'm listening to online insist it might be moving close to 20 mph. At least 15mph, which means even less time to prepare.
I agree, this thing has Palm Beach or Martin County written all over it.
possibly...although currently Frances would need to strengthen to really be a "disaster"........which it is forecast to do...
We are. This his been a damn busy hurricane season, and Frances has me quite worried.
Yes but the cause is the voting machines, or lack thereof, which ever is in vogue today.
PING
Hey! Wait! I live in Palm Beach - but then again if it blows away a few democrats, what the heck.
Already a cat 4. I guess it depends on how you define "disaster".
im going to go out on a limb and predict a carolinas landfall......historically models tend to bias south this far out.....high pressure ridges tend to not hold this strong for this many days at this time of year......
so its doubtful that the models would be off enough to say there is any chance of complete recurvature and a total US miss......but Ill go with the Carolinas instead of the Florida predictions.
actually Frances is a cat3 right now....and may not even be that strong (referred to in the NHC report).
Curve baby curve. I need some waves up here in Maryland for a Labor Day weekend surfing excursion. Stay away from land and make waves!
The faster Frances moves, the more likely it is to hit Florida rather than catch the steering winds taking further up the east coast. Keep an eye on that forward speed ...
Yeesh. In ALL of those models, the Bahamas are toast.
Looks like Orlando is under the gun for three of them, too.
Get over it folks, it always hit NC. They always say Florida and it always hits NC.
I gotta agree with you...I had a bad feeling about this storm when it formed...I'm thinking cat 5 before it makes landfall
Moderator: Is there any way we can somehow make this the "official" Hurricane Frances thread?
This storm is a monster, and has FL right in it's sights - Frankly, we are going to need a single thread to go to to exchange information.
