It's hard not to acknowledge that Mush is going after his own boys. Bush needs Osama, Mush knows where he is, and Mush can't be rooting for Kerry. Bush is one of the best buddies he has, and anything to lock in the election for Bush would be in his best interest.

That of course assumes, he's known Osama's whereabouts all this time.

But whatever reason, if Osama is handed over, election's over. Gas is already trending down.

Wher are the human rights groups? Can't they see that these poor terrorists are being terrorised?

It would appear to me that keeping the capture of one or more of the high value targets under wraps just makes good sense from an intelligence standpoint. The arrest of an immediate supervisor would almost certainly cause a terrorist to flee or at least lay low. We saw what happened when someone announced the capture of the computer geek a month or so ago. He had been working with our side to set up stings designed to lure others into the net. Outing his capture put a premature end to a very successful operation.

The spate of arrests in recent days is evidence that they are obeying their orders with considerable - and unaccustomed - zeal, with few being spared.

This is to be expected when it becomes clear which side is going to win.

Thanks for the ping, Coop.

This is looking good. Despite all the carping from the nattering nabobs of negativism, Mushi is doing a great job. Not only has he made outstanding progress against the Jihadists, but he has also gained enough control over his factious army and government to enable him to safely leave the country for a visit to the U.S. in September.

If I get to choose between Albright and Osama jumping out of a cake, can I please put my vote in for Osama jumping outof the cake? I don't think my eyes can take Albright do this.

I expect an announcement this week of a big capture

You could be right. Hannity said Tommy Franks has a big announcement to make soon. Also, this morning W said the WOT is not winnable. Maybe he said that because we have OBL but he wants us to know that it doesn't mean that the war is over just because we captured him. I think there's some kind of strategery going on here but I can't put my finger on it.

I'm an optimist too. I have to tell you, I watched W's speech in W. Virginia yesterday and I came away with a very positive feeling. He just seemed really confident and upbeat -- like a winner.

Any takers?
OBL : 9/2/2004? One can hope! ;-) Late October 2004 is OK with me as well as we'd like to maximize our "interrogation" time. Please, Lord, I'll be good!

If we do have any HVTs under wraps, it is critical to be truthful about when they were captured when the news is released.

There's nothing wrong with holding a terrorist secretly to interrogate him and to use the information to capture other terrorists.

There's a great deal wrong with getting caught lying to the public.

As a matter of fact, if Bin Laden were caught the day before the election, actually taken into custody that day, I'd still hedge and announce that it wasn't yet clear when he was caught, that he may have been in captivity for a while, just to head off any backlash instigated by those who would claim he was captured months earlier.

Pin, meet balloon.

“There's a great deal wrong with getting caught lying to the public.”

Men of good will understand that there are legitimate things their government must necessarily do in secret. They may wish they were privy to those secrets, but they accept that can't always be the case. But those same men of good also recognize that there's a heap of a big difference between a secret and an outright lie by their government. That kind of good will is a valuable asset that our leadership can ill afford to squander on trivial pursuits.
