Whatever happened to laws protecting people from assault?
Am I wrong here, or if I belligerently harass random people on the street going about there business I can be picked up for anything from disturbing the peace to loitering to assault to vagrancy?

I think you are right. Free speech does not include harassment.

Whatever happened to the memory of 2 planes hitting the WTC? People running from a cloud of smoke and ash--a scene which reminded me of a Hollywood Horror Film, except this time it was real? The sound of bodies hitting the sidewalk-people jumping because the alternative was just too gruesome to face?

I see signs saying "Bush lied, people died." Time for a reality check. Risking deletion, a more accurate sign should be "Monica sucked, NY couldn't duck"

Yes. You absolutely can....as long as you're a card carrying member of the VRWC. RATs are exempt from prosecution for said activities because the Constitution gives them special protections under the freedom of speech rights, the ones that allow the extension of their freedom of speech to include the freedom to assault anyone who disagrees with them. Didn't you know?
