A respected Iranian ex-patriot, Dr. Ahura Pirouz Khaleghi Yazdi, hosts a news program on a southern California based Iranian satellite broadcasting station (Rangarang TV, which means colorful), has recently announced he is returning to Iran to serve as a catalyst for a regime change in Iran no later than that date.
He claims to have the support of leaders inside the Iranian government and military institutions and has booked several chartered aircraft for his return to Iran with his supporters on or before that date.
Dr. Yazdi is a highly respected Iranian Zoroastrian, but a return to Iran without massive public support and protection would surely end in his immediate arrest. This move on his part is one of the boldest of any Iranian ex-patriot in recent memory.
Very little has been published on his efforts in the media and while it is hard to believe that he has sufficient support inside of Iran to protect him, still he is the first such Iranian to make such a bold challenge to the regime.
We need to watch for the reaction of Iranians inside of Iran to this ongoing story.
Background information:
He recently held a press conference at the National Press Club, August 24, 2004.

Yeah... should prevent people with -50 IQ from posting!
He's a Zoroastrian, not a Muslim. As far as Islam goes, that puts him even further beyond the pale than Jews and Christians. The Religion of Peace classifies Jews and Christians as "people of the Book", at least,
And your point is ? He actually does have a point. The guy is Zoroastrian ... not Islamic.
You mean Bush would BE blown out, since a lot of people would be saying, "Thank you for your service. We don't need you anymore." (Like the British ingrates dealt with Churchill)
At least someone is willing to step up to back up the idiotic comments. So that makes you the 2nd string idiot?
Actually the 3 wisemen were thought of as being 'magi', which is the name for Zoroastrian Priest and Zoroastrians believe that Christians go to heaven.
Awwww. How saaaaaad! Someone rained on his ongoing Zoroasinine recruitment parade.
Uh, huh. Sure! You betcha! Christian eh? You sure act like one.
Good luck in your hokey religion recruitment drive, and good night.
You forget, people in the US have no Idea what Zoroastrianism is, we think of some ancient paganism back to the time of Alexander or Cyrus or something...
I still dont get it, I wonder just what Zoroaster had to do with the religion named after him!
Exactly four weeks before the election I don't think that the switch would occur that fast.
It is a very ancient religion and both Christianity and Judism are said to be based on it. It was the first religion to recognize One God. The Magi were from Persia, home of the Zoasters. The similarities between the astounding. It IS from the time of Cyrus (and before). As you know, Cyrus is mentioned quite favorably in the Bible as the friend and savior of the Jewish people. He rescued them and kept them safe.
ooops, amend that to "the similarities between the religions"
I agree completely - as you said, if he knows something that we know nothing of, then he's in a better position to make a wise decision, however: what he is speaking of, especially if it has not been coordinated fully with all other forces is very dangerous.
I wish Yazdi well.
You must be kidding me broadsword -
First of all, Freedom44 is Christian! Decond of all I am Catholic. Persians come in all shapes, sizes and religions - so relax: half the people in this thread need to calm the hell down with the "Mr Knowitall Ego" thing they've got going. Those who don't relax and read a book end up sounding like complete idiots to those of us who have a bit of intelligence.
Zoroastrianism is all about GOOD WORDS, GOOD THOUGHTS and GOOD DEEDS - Monotheistic religion. Way before the popular religions of today - in fact most of the relgiions piggybacked off of Zoroastrianism.
