Great post thanks! This is heartening. I was in a funk today after hearing Charles Krauthammer voice doubts about re-election.
This sort of thing is interesting in a crazy way. I remember something I saw years ago concerning an experiment in which a name and address was selected at random from a west coast directory and one from an east coast directory. A message was given to the person on the east coast with instructions to forward it to the person they thought would be most likely to know the person on the west coast, this had to be someone with whom they were already acquainted. This procedure continued until the message was delivered to the person on the west coast by someone known to them. If I remember correctly the message passed through no more than four hands in most cases. Based on this a flow chart could be made to link almost any two people in the United States.
