in contrast to Senator Kerry's weird up-the-Mekong-without-a-paddle routine. This guy's priceless.

Does Mark Steyn ever sleep? How many columns does he write in a week? I think about nine. The thing is, he never comes up with a dud. How does he do it?

Mark Steyn is usually spot on, and I'm hoping he is dead on in this analysis. I too feel like this will be a runaway election and pray that it happens every day. Every logical instinct tells me this but the polls have just now started to move. I know the polls lie a lot, especially this long before the elction.
Seems to me that the polls will start to have Dubya pull away a LITTLE after the convention and call it the normal "bounce", but I'm hoping it's just a misread of a near landslide!

Wait till he tells them how he cried as a Kid when Jackie Robinson was booed etc etcYeah, and Jackie Robinson was Kerry's favorite player on the Red Sox.

Is that Monday or Tuesday .. and is the MSM planning to cover it instead of the RNC ..?? That also will be interesting to watch. I might watch it .. just for laughs .. but I'll have to put the mute button on to last through the whole thing.

B: Are you content to be ideologically pure, even if it means bringing traitors and socialists to power? WG: If Dubya loses to an incompetent twit like Kerry, it'll be strictly because he and Karl Rove went out of their way to alienate the conservative base.
I guess that would be a "Yes."

Yep. These were university faculty members I was talking with. They can see the dems have picked a loser and wish that Hillary was running.Yep. The thing is, Kerry never really got tested in the primaries. He won by default after Dean imploded. So now, with this Vietnam stuff, he's finally facing some negative attacks, and he's not handling it well. For somebody who said it was time to "move on" from the SWVT stuff on Tuesday, he sure can't stop talking about it.

" I prefer the Bloody Mess myself"
- The difference is that anyone with minimal writing skills can wield an axe and hack away like Ann, but it takes real skill to use satire and ridicule like a rapier as Steyn does. He inserts the blade so quickly and deftly that the subject doesn't even know he's been cut to the quick until he looks down and sees the blood. Although it can be fun to wade through the bloody mess from time to time, I prefer the sheer delight I get when I see a master deftly skewer the opponent.

Thank you, Tennessee! You are welcome. We met Albert once down at Jonesborough. We challenged his flip flop on pro life. He did a little dance around, but the contemp we felt from him and the toadies in the audience was unforgettable.
I have never been prouder of my state than I was in the 2000 election.

He notes that young George "was a very avid and skillful poker player" when he was a Business Administration student and that "one of the secrets of a successful poker player is to encourage your opponent to bet a lot of chips on a losing hand I knew it! GW is a poker player with well practiced check-raise skills! Strategery indeed!

" Mr. H-K will come to regret trying to play against a pro."
- There's another advantage that Bush has that everyone has overlooked. That is the fact that Kerry entire political organization, including his top advisor's, are all Clintonite's. It's as if he had a huge Trojan Horse sitting on his front lawn and I'm not sure if he's shrewd enough to know it.
Everyone's said that Kerry has completely misplayed the Swift Boat Vets by not ignoring them. Where do you think his bad advice originated? Lanny Davis goes on TV last week and attacks the retired Admiral who, up to then was on the sidelines, and draws him out to testify that he was in charge of the boat when Kerry got his first Purple Heart and that Kerry's version of events was wrong. Why would Davis provoke this guy? A mistake, a miscalculation? I don't think so.

And lets hope that his adversaries continue to "misunderestimate" him.

The liss article in post #85 is excellent on many levels - not only about Bush, but about decisionmaking and strategic planning generally.
