It's really strange how many deaths we have had in the music business recently.
i liked, How Am I Supposed to Live Without You? she sang it before Michael Bolton did (although i believe he may have written it...) in any case, i like her rendition better... more powerful... i can't believe she was only 47... she seemed to have a mature voice even 20 or so years ago...
Wow. Rest in peace, Laura.
This is sad. I enjoyed her music. Was her version of Gloria a remake of Patti Smith's?
Some are old, some are druggies, some are genetically-defective, some are scumbags. Life goes on; get over it, folks...
Mere mortals we are. Our lives and deaths have an element of surprize and mystery. Sad to hear the news.
Nooo!
I was really young when "Gloria" came out, and I remember my mother used to play that record over and over. What a voice! What a loss.
This was a girl that, in my opinion, was never allowed by the music industry to reach her potential. With their "help" she wasted her career trying for another "Gloria". A great song and I still remember what I was doing and where I was at the first time I heard it. (Driving down the Newport Freeway heading for the beach with the wife and kids.)
But she was better than that song. In the famous words of Brando - she coulda been a contenda. Not to be. Never to be. What a voice. What a great voice. I'll miss her.
Rest in peace, Laura.
Judgement Day
Sad. My grandma just passed away last week of brain aneurysm and stroke. Seems like I'm hearing about alot of them lately.
I predict the percentage of deaths will reach 100% at some point.
Official website appears to confirm.

Damn. That one hit me.
Whenever the wife had "Field Day" in the house, we'd put on "Gloria" and get pumped listening to it. Made the work a lot easier.
They don't show up much in photos, but as my boy said, she had the TRIPPIEST eyes - VERY pale blue that looked into your soul.
I know - talked with her one time at one of the old Solid Gold shows and told her she was a super talent. She said "Thanks", smiled, and gave my shoulder a squeeze. Fried every damn brain cell I had and I haven't been the same ever since.
Don't know why she never really caught on - she could really belt out the songs and had a beautiful personality that matched her looks.
So sorry to hear this. "Self Control" was one of my favorites. Nicolette Larson also died of a brain aneursym some years ago. Two lovely and talented ladies.
bump
How sad. I hated her song 'Gloria' but did like 'Self Control'.
how'd I miss that? what happened?

Oh my goodness! God Bless her! I always thought she had such a powerful, lovely voice!
