Networks Give 'Truth Squader' Hillary Carte Blanche

Two of the three major broadcast networks will showcase top Democrat New York Sen. Hillary Clinton on the eve of the Republican Convention, as Clinton makes her debut as head of the Democratic Party's so-called "Truth Squad."

The former first lady is set to appear Sunday on ABC's "This Week," hosted by her former aide George Stephanopoulos, and NBC's "Meet the Press." After she finishes bashing Republicans on the two networks, Sen. Clinton will travel to CNN's "Late Edition," where she'll be able to air any criticisms omitted in the previous broadcasts.

The networks began scrambling to get Clinton on the air after her "Truth Squad" role was announced on Monday.

"I think it's fair to say the Kerry people realize Mrs. Clinton could be very effective," one top Democrat told the New York Post.

Clinton agreed to take the job after "intensive talks" last weekend with Kerry campaign staffers. Her role will be "high profile," a source familiar with the negotiations told the Post.

"She will be one of the responders at the convention, probably focusing on homeland security issues," the source added.

All part of her plan to ensure that JK doesn't get anywhere near the White House.

Now, who did the networks showcase as the Republican Party's "Truth Squad" during the Democratic convention? Hmmm...why can't I remember?

This is the second time today, Rose, where it's been appropriate to offer my one, consistent prayer for the Clintons ...

That the Lord would render the Clintons, and ALL their minions, totally powerless and useless and nameless and faceless and voiceless and homeless and penniless, and that He would strip them bare before the world, such is their evil, leaving only their immortal souls, and it is for these souls I pray ...

Where does that leave Edwards? Since Kerry picked him, wouldn't a new presidential nominee be able to do the same?

This election will just boil down to the Dems as an ABB. At this point, they'd support McGovern again.

We cannot ever stop working in this election.

We had better watch out for the "Torch affect" in 2004. The DNC might be rewriting their rules right now to get rid of Kerry and put someone else in.

Kerry is sinking fast. Some have suggested that Hillary will come to the rescue when Bush team would have no time to launch a counter attack. Hillary has her supporters, but I'm not sure she's all that well liked and it would be tough for a woman to be elected. Evita gets what Evita wants, but she is calculating . . .

By watching the ratings, when she is on the air they will get some idea of her electability for this year. It also gives her a chance to become the mouthpiece for the demos.
Hillary would never be VP to Edwards, that is a guarenteed losing card. Edwards is such a lightweight. It has to be Hillary in first place.
I think her campaign starts tomorrow on the talk shows.

It's party politics, insider deals. Nobody has a "sure in." I understand that Edwards has a significantly powerful machine behind him (not just ATLA, but old money elites). Edwards is "in" if he can attract votes, and I think he can. O'Neill said he would vote for Edwards.

This election will just boil down to the Dems as an ABB. At this point, they'd support McGovern again.

Yup. This battle is deeper than Kerry, by far. Kerry is just the present face.

We cannot ever stop working in this election.

Elections aren't the end of it. The media and educational institutions (I call then "government schools") are fully engaged in subverting this self-governing society.

Navy, you can check Alas Babylon's Sunday Talk Show thread in the morning. He usually has it posted by 8:45am ET or so. It comes very close to being a substitute for watching TV. Easy way to find it: go to the forum page and do a Ctrl/f search for Alas Babylon.

The Mighty Hildabeaste has been hired to remind you...

I hope I'm wrong but this is shaping up as an orchestrated set up.
Hitlary spout the so called "Democratic truth" on networks that only pitch softballs to her making her look like the salvation of the demoncrats while Kerry tailspins......Bingo! The witch saves the day having avoided all press scrutiny or any 527 attacks...
God help us.

Don't get me started on the Department of Education.

I am still looking for the copy of the Constitution that was used to start and fund that albatross. LOL

Which inalienable right was that?

Roger that. I get very weary of the Hillary! fear factor around here. She will be Junior Senator from NY for life and that's it.

The only risk in 2004 is that the DEM party gets a majority of the electoral college (meaning voters have to pull DEM ticket, regardless of the name on the ballot). Hillary being named WOULD (will?) draw more votes than Kerry. Hillary could have her name there, and it would not be a negative even if "she" lost, because she didn't run. Edwards/Clinton, "so what."

Anyway, I don't see any scenario that gives the DEMs the White House in 2004.

I agree she won't do very well. But that's precisely why the rat's will resort to a last minute substitution. She'd never survive a protracted national campaign.

She won't win regardless, but I still expect the rats to try it.

That's not fear, it's just rat watching.
