What amazes me is the 40% of EE-s who are voting for Kerry. And amazes me even more, that 27 of the defense engineers, plan to vote for Kerry .

"G.W. . . . has harmed the security of this country more in his term than any three presidents combined. He has weakened alliances and offended as many countries and peoples as he can. Kerry might be able to patch foreign relations back to what they were before the W. debacle."

Security starts with a strong defense and a strong intelligence community. Both Clinton and Kerry undercut both.

"Anybody but Bush. Can't say Kerry will surely be better, but he has the opportunity."

"There's a Bush in the White House, and we're at war with Iraq. Haven't we done this already?"

Now here's a couple of engineers I want in my staff. They are thoughtful, examined the facts, and have applied flawless logic in their analysis. I am sure they will always provide the best design. Now where are those pink slips.

"Kerry understands the interdependent nature of our modern world. Bush squandered hundreds of billions of dollars and hundreds of lives in a failed attempt to stop terrorism. As a result Kerry will have a more effective foreign policy. In domestic areas, where Bush does not understand the public/private balance that [brought] America to its prominent economic position, Kerry will recommit to rebuilding our human capital and stopping the raid on the wealth of future generations."

Here's one that really knows how to think outside the box. This engineer has memorized the Kerry Little Red Book very well. I'll betcha this one could not design out of a paper bag let alone think beyond the cubical.

My daughter in law is an electrical engineer. To give you a hint as to how she will vote let me tell you what kind of t shirts she puts on my grandson:

It's hard to believe. I'm a EE myself and my experience with engineers makes me think they are all (mostly) commies.

Me too, as a former EE working for a defense contractor (LMT) I wondered why any one making a sucessful living would ever be for a democrat. But there were people there. The company has a policy of equal opportunity employment, and that means everybody gets in. But I did find that the democrat supporters by and large were not well informed and typically just voiced the standard DNC arguements. This indicates that they were likely life long democrats and support their politics at home and basically don't ask themselves difficult questions about where they work.

One engineer (dem and investor in the stock market) did say that he hated the 9-11 event because he could clearly see that this would build a case against the anti Bush anti war arguement that he believed in. After a few months, he was back to full support for the democratic position. (I guess the truth wears off after a time.) But I am certain he will vote for Kerry in the Fall, even though it is against his best interests.

I'd love to see a breakdown by vote by Digital EEs vs. Analog EEs vs. RF/Microwave EEs.

I'm convinced there's a general correlation between digital folks (there is Right and Wrong just like there is a 1 and 0) and analog folks (everything is just shades of gray / points on a curve).

This doesn't surprise me. In fact I'd think Engineers of all disciplines would go for Bush, because like Dubya, they deal in facts, not fantasy.

Now those Architect critters -- those guys you have to keep an eye on.
(hmmm, I wonder if Helmut Jahn still wears that black cape everywhere? Talk about a cuckoo, sheesh)

Wee Publican

It's definitely not manly of me to say this, but that is adorable.

my dissatisfaction with the current policies.

Kerrys Current Law: all currency entering a node must be re-distributed sufficiently to keep the Democrats in power.
