PROTESTS TAKE A NASTY SWING IN BX.
By PERRY CHIARAMONTE and JOE McGURK

August 28, 2004 -- Vandals hacked up fairways and spray-painted political slogans on a city golf course in The Bronx early yesterday, as protesters geared up for an anti-GOP protest march tomorrow past the Republican convention site.

The graffiti — which included the slogans "Stop the War!" and "Politics Isn't Business" — was discovered at Van Cortlandt Golf Course and on nearby lawns and tunnels, parks officials said.

"There was extensive damage to holes 15 through 18," said Parks and Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe.

Thank goodness I don't golf at public courses anymore. I can't do it. I WON'T DO IT!

Pal,

Stooges rule! I love it when moe is hitting all the balls in succession and knocking out the other golfers. The 'payoff' shot in that scene is a genuine laugh riot!

This is the one I was thinking of...and I don't think it's the one you're referring to.

And...I'm going to bed. I tried searching for it using Rukus, but that wasn't a keyword. I'm sorry...maybe someone else can find it??

The anti-globalist crowd of itinerant thugs, dopes, and dupes gathering in New York will soon turn their ostensible opposition to Operation Iraqi Freedom into a generalized opposition to the War on Terror, including use of all of the tactics aimed at undermining America's eforts against terrorism at home and abroad, tactics originated in the "anti-Vietnam War movement" (actually the mostly anti-American and pro communist movement)that are being handed off to a younger generation by aging Vietnam-era traitors. This is the opening salvo signaling the left's unholy alliance with radical islam, with whom they share the goal of bringing down the USA as we know it. However, they lack the foresight to envision what their role would be in an islamofied America if their treason were to succeed.

They NYPD has designated a pier in the Hudson River as a temporary holding area for dirty stinking hippie protesters, if necessary.

Do they need any cement? ;o)

Kerry loses by trying to be all things to all people: war hero, war protester; critic of Bush's Iraq policy, enthusiastic endorser of Bush's invasion of Iraq -- and so on.

I think things will get quite out of hand, because, as conservative in nyc said, "These people have been itching for a repeat of Chicago 1968." Bush can put Kerry on a really hard spot by insisting that Kerry condemn these extremists. That will give Kerry the choice between alienating his leftist base OR alienating middle America. It's a lose-lose situation for Kerry.

That is why I am hoping that the protests go over the top. If they do, put some serious money on a Bush landslide (if you are into strategic betting)!

RNC Protest Emergency Number

I hope you never need this but write it on your palm anyway.

If you are arrested or detained, call the National Lawyers Guild at 212-679-6018. They will also have 400 to 500 lawyers and legal observers in the crowds on Sunday. They are wearing green hats.

Can you spot Chrissy Matthews in this picture?

Seems one of the head anarchists is a Kerry campaign coordinator.

Sounds too good to be true -- a connection between the Kerry campaign and the campaign of anarchy taking place in NYC, and just 2 weeks before the anniversary of 9/11.

Again, as long as there is no serious injury to NYC police and innocents, I am hoping to witness immature, mindless vandalism and lots of stupid protest signs. Let America see the true nature of those who have been maligning Bush and our noble efforts in the MidEast. Everything now points to a Bush victory, probably and landslide, in November.

Not surprisingly, I can't find any pictures of the vandalism at Van Cortlandt Park on the Internet. That would show the hippie protesters to be the vandals that they are.

Any idea if most of the people that golf there would be Democrats or not?

Most of the people who golf there would be New Yorkers, who tend to be Democrats. But the newspapers were reporting that RNC delegates were told that they could golf there.

They have no respect for property rights.

Most communists don't.

Yes, but the use of the pier indicates that the cops are not 'arresting' and 'booking' the protesters. What is happening seems to be a detention and ticketing process, which means that the vast majority of the protesters are simply being given tickets. I would be surprised if the cops are taking the time to do anything under than rudimentary photographing, and they certainly aren't going to fingerprint.

The pier itself is very limited, and I would expect arraignments to start within a few hours--I think that you will see most protesters out within 12 hours of arrest because frankly, I don't think the city wants to incur the massive liability of keeping the protesters in city bullpens and they certainly do not want to start sending people to Rikers.

If it is the pier I think it is, then it won't be too long before the media starts making hay about its use. I fault Bloomberg for this.

Should be interesting....

"...a pier in the Hudson River as a temporary holding area..."

Why not the Hudson itself?

The convention is right in your neck of the woods, but I would be inclined to let these protesters make fools out of themselves - very publicly - and from a distance. Like the naked AIDs protesters yesterday. Do you think they really helped the sKerry campaign, or hurt Bush? No way - the vast majority of the people think these folks are freaks and associate them with sKerry.

Delegates foiled in attempt to play golf Current rating: 0
by Course Reclaimers

Modified: 05:32:00 PM

In an act of resistance we sent a clear message of disapproval. Golf is such a waste of money and time and we did our best to make it as difficult to play as possible. While also sending clear messages of what we think aobut the republican policies and goverment as a whole. We reclaimed the course for the people. The land is for everyones use. It is a liberated space.

We will not stand for the waste of money and destroying of the environment that coincides with the building of a golf course. Grass is not natural. The land was ripped up and instead foreign species were planted. All of this for the joy of some rich bourgeoise folks.

The Republican national commitee the Grand old party is just one such organization of rich people who play golf and rape the earth. These people who start and fight wars to get richer. You cannot suppress the masses forever.
