I use the online Congressional Biographical Dictionary. The website is bioguide.congress.gov

You can search by office (Senator or Congressman), by State, by party, by first or last name, by year in congress, or by any combination of these categories. It is an excellent site for getting a short-hand introduction to members of congress.
